These unprecedented levels of efficiency have been achieved with a new engine design and the use of sophisticated hydraulic components that convert the engine rotation into water supply with better efficiency. The European EuP Directive requires all new circulators placed on the market after 1 January 2015 to have an Energy Efficiency Index of less than or equal to 0.23. Grundfos’ new ALPHA2 comfortably exceeds the EU requirement with an Index of just 0.15.
In practice this means that an ALPHA2 is 35% more economical to operate than another pump that simply meets the EU requirement.
